September Newsletter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for a wonderful start to our new Preschool year! The kids are all adjusting well to being in a classroom and are making new friends and having fun! They will learn a lot this year about how to be a friend, how to be in a classroom and work together and also lots of academic learning too. Preschool is a place for your child to grow and develop into the student they will need to be on their first day of Kindergarten. I came across this the other day and it was something I wanted to share with all of you. Although I promise your child will be academically ready for Kindergarten, please keep this in mind too as it is a HUGE focus for me as a Preschool Teacher:
Don’t become preoccupied with your child’s academic ability, but instead teach them to sit with those sitting alone, teach them to be KIND, teach them to offer their HELP to others, teach them to be a FRIEND, teach them to encourage others, teach them to think about others, teach them to SHARE, teach them to see the good, for this is how they will change the world.
Each month you will receive a newsletter outlining our monthly themes and letters/numbers we will be focusing on! In the month of September, we will be working on how to be a student. This means how to sit in circle and be a listener, how to make and play with friends, how to solve problems and how to work together! It may sound simple, but this is very important so that when we begin our letters and learning they are ready to go!
Here is what we are working on this month:
Themes: Apples and Farms!
We will be learning all about apples while incorporating math and science! We will also be learning about farm life with some fun sunflower and seed science!
Letters:
We will be working on writing our names and also the letter T.
FIELD TRIP!
We will be going as a group to the Thomasson Family Farm Pumpkin Patch on Tuesday, October 4th! This was the only date they had left so I grabbed it! The field trip starts at 9:30. For all of our field trips I have parents drive their own children. We will meet at the preschool at 8:45 on that morning and head to the pumpkin patch! This will be our preschool class for that day. All morning and afternoon students will be going together! Full day kids will still come back to school and continue their day following the field trip. If you would like to take them home after the trip that is fine too! This is ALWAYS a fun field trip for the kids! The cost for each child is $6.00 which will need to be paid to me by September 30th so that I can pay as a group when we arrive. Adults are free as well as “babes in arms” if you have a little one.
Phew! That was a lot of information for the first newsletter! I am so excited for a wonderful school year with your children and families. Teaching is my passion and what I love to do and I am so fortunate that I am able to do it every day. Thank you for sharing your sweet little ones with us and allowing us to keep them in our care.
Warmly,
Miss Shannon
